With as dry and elusive as the topic can be, how do you broach the subject of insurance with your kids?  Should you choose liability or comprehensive coverage for your child’s first car?  What about special insurance for families with kids?  Listen in as our hosts interview Jessi Howe, Financial Adviser with Silver Oak Advisory Group, who offers up her take on sharing the importance of insurance with your kids.

 

Jessi Howe graduated with honors from Linfield College, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. She graduated from the Financial Planning Program at the College for Financial Planning in 2007. She is a Certified Financial Planner® and has practiced as a fee-only financial adviser since 2008, and worked at Silver Oak since 2004. Jessi is currently an active member of the Oregon and SW Washington Financial Planning Association and national NexGen Financial Planning Community. She is also responsible for organizing NexGen events within the local FPA chapter.

Todd Yuzuriha and Evan Wilson

Evan is married with two young children and lives in Portland, OR. He's a Partner and the CFO of The Official Manufacturing Company, a strategy, branding and design agency. He's also on the board or a strategic advisor of a few young companies. Previously, he was a Partner at Pacific Crest, a top technology boutique investment bank, which was acquired by Key Bank in 2014. He led the firm’s coverage of the Internet, social media and games, was frequently named to Institutional Investor‘s All-American Research Team and was regularly featured on CNBC and in The New York Times & The Wall Street Journal. Evan graduated from Linfield College, where he played basketball, studied finance and computer science and was an Academic All-American.

Todd is passionate about personal finance and began investing at age 12. He retired as Vice President of Engi-neering for Logitech, where he led product development of the company's audio and video game products. Previously he was Senior Vice President of Engineering for Labtec, Senior Director at Sharp Microelectronics, and Engineering Manager at Tektronix. Todd has a bachelor's degree in engineering from Stanford, a master's degree in engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from the University of Portland. Todd is married and has 3 children. He serves on the boards of Evergreen Public Schools in Vancouver, Washington and the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District and plays trumpet.
